I know you don't know me that well. I graduated from Cape Fear after you. However, I have been reading your blog since a common friend recommended it on Facebook. I have cried reading your last few posts. My heart goes out to your family. Just know there are many people praying and thinking of you all.

Skye- I know how hard it is to ask and accept help, but when you are ready please let me know. I will be happy to provide meals, grocery shopping, lawn care, child care, carpool pickup, etc., whatever you determine will help you/the family most.
You have shown such courage through all of this, and have been such a wonderful role model for your children, family and friends. Your experiences will surely help someone else's/their family enduring what you are currently. You have been so forthcoming via your blog which isn't always easy to share such personal events.
I hope that it provides a little comfort to know that people are thinking/praying for all of you..

Syke,I've e-mailed you once before. I use to work w/ your Mom in Central Permitting until she left for another position. I just wanted to say that I am so glad your girls have each other. I grew up as an only child.I lost my Dad when I was fourteen.I know that's a lot older than your daughters are,but I wanted to say it would have been so comforting to have a sister to lean on at a time like that. As the girls grow up,they will be able to talk and comfort one another and share memories of Dad. That is such a blessing!

Being the only child is fine, but during dark times I can imagine there is nothing like a Sister. God Bless.

Skye, you do not know me but I love you and your family. My husband is a DOT co-worker of your Chad (he is still much the presence there so I will not use past tense). I want you to know that your entire family stay in our daily prayers. But today I write you for the first time to tell you of a resource that I learned about recently while attending a caregivers conference. The speaker recommended lotsahelpinghands.com to build a network of resources. It is a way to let people know what you need and for them to "sign up" to assist in various tasks from travel assistance, grocery shopping, meals, pharmacy pick ups, errands, lawn care, etc. You are obviously a techie so you may already be aware of this resource but just in case, I thought I would pass this along to you.

I think the plan that you and Chad have made is wise, brave, and quite Biblical, "This is the DAY that the Lord has made; let us REJOICE and BE GLAD in it." Psalm 118:24
