daily update 9.27.2010

I saw this quote today, and it touched me.
Thought I would share and I hope it means something to you as well.

When I stand before God at the end of my life,
I would hope that I would not have
a single bit of talent left, and could say,
“I used everything you gave me”.

Chad has had a quiet day today.
He’s been sleeping, not awake much at all.
He woke up briefly when a friend stopped by to say hello.
He fell asleep soon after.
He’s been asleep ever since.
The nurses do wake him for medication, but that lasts only a few minutes – and he’s asleep again.

If I had to add it all up, I think he’s been awake for 45 minutes today.
We’ll see. The night is young.

The sore forming on his ear looks a bit better today – or at least, it doesn’t look any worse.
We’re trying to position him differently a few times a day. He usually finds his way back to his favorite position – his back.
Thankfully, there are no sores forming in other locations at this point — and the staff doesn’t seem too concerned about sores on his hips or back since he does wiggle around in the bed somewhat. Just not a lot…

He had another episode of chills and tremors when we woke him for his 9pm meds.
Poor guy. He was sleeping so soundly, and we didn’t want to wake him up.
I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to be comfortable and then be trembling with chills and involuntary spasms.

We promised we’d leave him alone after that.
At least until his next medications are due…

Things at home are good.
I plan to pick the girls up from school tomorrow and spend the night at home with them, if everything is calm with Chad.
Carys lost another tooth over the weekend and has yet another wiggly one. Poor girl is going to bankrupt the Tooth Fairy!

She also received her progress report for the first nine weeks of school – and she is doing excellent in school!
The only S- (because 1st grade still doesn’t get “grades”…) she received was from not keeping her voice at a respectful level at times.
Yea.
It’s Carys.
I totally get that!
I am so proud of her for doing so well – math, spelling, reading. She’s got it under control.
And she is such a sweetheart, too.

And Cailyn is having a great time in preschool.
She loves her teacher and can’t wait to tell me what she’s doing in school for the week.
She is still our little fashion diva – and very thoughtful about her wardrobe choices.
She is so funny.
And just adorable.

I am so blessed to have such sweet little darlings at home.
(Even though I may not always refer to them as sweet. Because, also, they are loud. Just sayin’….)

And I really wish that I could be two places at once.
