Home & resting

We got in last night around 8:30. We stopped to grab a bite to eat and pick up medications, but the drive wasn’t bad at all. We missed rush hour, barely.
It was a quiet drive, because Chad just doesn’t say much. At all. I know it’s probably the pain medication, but I’m not used to all the silence. Or the apathy. He’s just not a “maybe” type of guy; he always has strong opinions and it’s strange that he has none now. It’s all normal for the trauma he’s been through, and the meds he’s on, but it’s still weird.

He gets to have his sutures taken out in 10 days. Thankfully, we can have that done at his general physician’s office. The next time we have to travel to Winston is in 4 weeks for a follow-up appointment with Dr. Tatter. We’ll also get our radiation & chemo directives then (which Chad will receive in Raleigh).

Anyway — here are a couple pictures from the last few days.

Here is Chad, on Sunday. He had just been released from ICU. I was shocked to see they had uncovered the site already — and that there were no staples! Amazing!

Here he is, ready to go home. He waited patiently for me while I loaded to rest of our junk in the van & drove over to the discharge area.

I’ll be back soon. It’s tiring to be home, and I’m not sure why –we have a ton of help.
I suppose the lack of rest from the last few days is finally catching up with us.
Chad gave me a lovely gift before we left – one heckuva cold! I’m feeling better, but it seems I’ve passed the gift along to my mom, dad & the girls. SORRY!
